I checked Bill C-22 on parl.ca. The Minister introduced it in March to make electronic service providers build surveillance tools right into their systems, complete with device installation and a year of metadata retention. Yet the systemic vulnerability carve-out sits there fuzzy, with the real details left to future regulations. Geist is spot on that this echoes the US approach that just got hacked. The House committee better sharpen that language fast.
